On Some Hypotheses Regarding Doctrinal Differences between Analytic and Continental Philosophy
Main Article Content
Abstract
In this paper, I propose nine hypotheses regarding the doctrinal differences between analytic and continental philosophers. It seems reasonable to suggest that a majority of analytic philosophers would accept these propositions, whereas most continental philosophers would likely reject them. However, these hypotheses require further empirical testing. If the testing is successful, it may reveal that the concepts of analytic and continental philosophy actually hold some descriptive content. The inherent vagueness of these concepts does not necessarily imply that they lack any substantive meaning.
