On the Myths and Problems Concerning the Definition of "Analytic Philosophy"

Abstract

The paper is devoted to the consideration of common myths in the Russian-speaking environment regarding the definition of the term "analytical philosophy". The paper demonstrates the insufficiency and/or incorrectness of some common definitions of this philosophical trend and suggests defining analytic philosophy as a tradition that seeks to get rid of "arbitrary metaphors and analogies".
